The second Ideas Hub has opened up at a new key location at High Chelmer, opposite Camera World and next to Greggs. The new location has been keeping everyone very snug this winter and the programme has continued to expand. The March 2013 programme includes Life Drawing classes, Percussion from Scratch, Learning to Crochet, a Didge workshop and a Dad’s club. Matt Love’s Brick Lane style Family Service on Sunday’s 12-4pm also generates quite a crowd. So drop by and say hi and keep abreast of the programme via the website http://ideashubchelmsford.org.

Movement of life photographic exhibtion

Although the Ideas Festival finished on the 20th of October, there has been so much public interest in having a cultural space in Chelmsford, volunteers are keeping it open and organising events, while seeking to find funding and setting up a Hub Co-operative.

The new c0-ordinator Heather Hall worked hard to organise a range of events for the mid term break offering a whole host of workshops from bike repair to DJ classes, song writing and stop motion animation.

Also, until the 11th of November, the Movement of Life Photographic exhibition is open to the public free of charge, upstairs in the hub. (Alas, no lift is available).

If you too have a passion to see more opportunities for cultural activities in Chelmsford, come along and meet Heather or her Hub co-host Janet Jacobs. They are looking for talented Social media marketers and Hub hosts to take the Hub to a wider, participative audience.

The New Cities dialogue event was held at Chelmsford Museum

The New City Dialogue event was held on October the 17th during the Ideas festival at Chelmsford Museum.  Bringing together practitioners from around the UK  and opened by Steve Packham  CE of Chelmsford City Council, it was curated by John Worthington from the Academy of Urbanism. This week a host of key free Festival events will allow participants to explore important topics and a chance to get hands-on with a number of crafts and innovative new technologies.

Saturday the 13th provides something for everyone.  Citizens committed to seeing stronger alliances for excellence between Anglia Ruskin, the business community and the Council will be able to attend the UniverCities event at Anglia Ruskin between 11-2pm.  For those wanting to join in the debate about the future of the Heritage Triangle (some of the city centre key historic buildings) there is a debate at the Shire Hall between 2-4pm. For 13-19 year olds who would like to hone their skills in creating an effective argument there is an Argumentag tournament at Anglia Ruskin University from 3-5pm, while the Quaker Meeting House is hosting a dynamic Restorative Justice event from 10-4pm. All these rich offerings will be happening at the same time as the Ideas Hub Wellbeing day which runs from 11-3pm.

October 5-7th 10-4pm. The volunteers from the nearby Mobility pop-up shop have set up a vibrant arts and crafts fair in the hub. Come and support our local economy while buying your Christmas presents early or just come and say hello and meet some new people over excellent coffee or a relaxing cup of tea.

Last night saw a warm reception at the Ideas Hub for the Possibility of Envy exhibition. The show, curated by Gordon F

lemons contains art designed specifically for the space by local artists Joanne Newman, Nastassia Page,Linda Theophilus
and Elaine Tribley.

It is not too late to see the show, it is open on Saturday the 29th, Monday the 1st and Wednesday 3rd from 10am-4pm, at the Ideas Hub of course. You can find more information here
